Instruction by Matteo Castelluzzo:
To Use THE FTP DOS PROGRAM TO SEND YOUR FILE TO THE COURSE FTP-SITE.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Before you begin be sure to save your document or at least copy it to your desktop.
Also, be sure that before you run the FTP program that you connect to the internet first. :->
When following the steps below be sure not to type in the ' ' symbols. Just type what's in them.
So here are the 10 steps to success. :->
1) If you're using Windows 95/98/2000/XP then go to
start --> Run and then type 'command' and hit enter or click on OK.
2) In Windows 95/98 type 'cd \windows\desktop'
If you are using Windows 2000/XP then you can type 'cd Desktop' alone.
3) Now you need to open a session with FTP. Type 'ftp bubba.psychology.mcmaster.ca'
4) When it asks for a login id type 'anonymous'
5) For password type in anything you like.
6) Now type 'binary'. This allows you to send any type of file correctly.
7) Now you need to actually send the file.
Type 'send 3L_AssignmentType_LastName_Firstname.properextension'
For example you may have an excel spreadsheet saved in your desktop as
3L_Paper1_Doe_John.xls
Be sure to type 'send 3L_Paper1_Doe_John.xls' to send the file over to the FTP site.
8) If you need help type 'help' or '?'
9) To exit the FTP program type 'bye'.
10) To exit DOS/command prompt type 'exit'.
That's all there is too it. It's just a lot of typing and if you make a small mistake the command will not be executed or you'll get an error message.
It's probably easier to use a Windows/Macintosh FTP program.
