Céline Marie, Post-Doctoral Fellow
905.525.9140 ext. 24797
mariec@mcmaster.ca

Research Interests: Céline's research focuses on brain plasticity by studying the mechanisms and temporal dynamics of sound processing in healthy adults with psychological and brain imaging methods (EEG). Céline's current project focuses on understanding the effect of musical experience on oscillatory activity in different frequency bands during sound processing.

Katie Corrigall, Graduate Student
905.525.9140 ext. 2
7114
corrigka@mcmaster.ca

Research Interests: Katie is broadly interested in the effects of both formal and informal musical experience on various aspects of perceptual and cognitive development. She is currently examining the potential benefits of formal music training on attention and other cognitive skills, as well as the development of culture-specific musical knowledge through informal, day-to-day exposure to music.

David Gerry, Graduate Student

dgerry@nas.net

Research Interests: David completed a B.Mus. and M.Mus. in performance at the University of Toronto. He also received diplomas from the Royal Conservatory of Music and the Suzuki Talent Education Research Institute in Japan. David is researching whether directed musical experience in infancy has an effect on perceptual, cognitive and social development.

Rayna Friendly, Graduate Student

friendr@mcmaster.ca

Research Interests: Rayna completed her undergraduate honours degree in Psychology at McMaster University. Currently, she is studying the development of voice discrimination during the first year after birth, as well as the development of singing ability in children.

Anne-Marie DePape, Graduate Student
905.525.9140 ext. 27114

depapear@mcmaster.ca

Research Interests: Anne-Marie DePape graduated with her Honours BA in Psychology from the University of Windsor. In 2007, she completed her MA in Psychology, Developmental and Cognitive Processes at York University. Anne-Marie is currently working on her Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour at McMaster University. Her dissertation will examine the areas of auditory and musical perception and autism.

Blake Butler, Graduate Student

Research Interests: Blake graduated with a BMSc. in Honours Medical Science from the University of Western Ontario. In 2008, he completed his MSc. in Health and Rehabilitation Science at UWO where he studied otoacoustic emissions in chidlren with auditory processing disorders. Blake is currently working on his Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour at McMaster University, where he will focus on evaluating musical perceptive skills of children using event-related potentials.

Nicole Folland, Graduate Student

einarsk@mcmaster.ca

Research Interests: Kate received her B.A. (Adv) in Linguistics and Psychology from the University of Manitoba, where she focused on language acquisition and reading development in children. She is currently working towards a Ph. D. studying the relationship between perceiving and producing musical sequences, and the effect of one's environment on these skills. Kate is also interested in the correlation between musical abilities and abilities in other domains, such as language, memory and social skills.

Chris Slugocki, Graduate Student

Research Interests: Chris graduated with a BSc. (Honours) in Neuroscience and Behaviour from McMaster University. His senior thesis used event-related potentials to study the temporal extraction of pitch from an acoustic stimulus lacking resolvable spectral cues. Chris is currently working on his Ph. D. in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour, where his project will focus on measuring the interaction of cortical and subcortical auditory processing in early infancy using novel electroencephalographic methods.
